Uruguay is a relatively small South American country on the Atlantic coast which is bordered by Brazil towards the north and Argentina towards the south.  More than half its 3.3-million-population live in the metropolitan area of the capital, Montevideo.  Uruguayans are gaining a reputation for openness and enlightenment in South America with the relaxing of many laws and introduction of free-thinking policy; which bodes well for a TEFL teacher’s classroom experience in the country.  TEFL positions don’t appear very often, it might be worth prospectively approaching an independent school or university with your CV.  You should check which vaccinations you might need if you are going to live in Uruguay.
