Teaching English in SwazilandBack to Tefl World

Swaziland is a small landlocked kingdom in southern Africa which is mostly surrounded by South Africa except for a border in the north-east with Mozambique.  It’s a beautiful country with diverse scenery ranging from Rift Valley mountains to savannas.  The official languages for this emerging economy are Swazi and English, but Zulu and Tsonga are also widely spoken.  The Ministry of Education insists that all subjects are taught in English which might explain why so few TEFL positions are advertised outside of the country.  If you are keen to work in Swaziland, then you could try contacting one of its numerous educational institutions to enquire about career opportunities.  Remember to have the full list of vaccinations which are needed for Swaziland  – the rabies vaccination sometimes needs a course of injections which require up to a month to complete before you depart for the country.
