Thankfully the troubles that plagued the island in the Indian Ocean for decades are over and now people can travel throughout the island. Fortunately for TEFL teachers, jobs are regularly advertised for positions which are paid or voluntary. The cost of living is low so that a paid-TEFL position will provide a teacher with a very comfortable lifestyle.
