Teaching English in KenyaBack to Tefl World

Kenya is a country in East Africa with beautiful diverse scenery ranging from rainforests on the shores of Lake Victoria in the east to beautiful sandy beaches on the Indian Ocean in the west, and from the savannah of the Masai Mara to the south to the dramatic rugged mountain scenery of the Rift Valley to the north.  Tourists have swarmed to Kenya to enjoy the multitude of things to do here including seeing Africa’s wildlife in its natural habitat.  English is one of its two official languages, the other is Kiswahili, and so this explains why so few TEFL positions are advertised outside of Kenya.  However, there are paid and voluntary positions to be had in the country.  If you are looking for a TEFL position in Kenya, then you might try sending one of its voluntary organisations such as the VSO, its tertiary institutions, or the British Council in Nairobi a prospective CV and covering letter asking about career opportunities.  Remember to have the full list of vaccinations which are needed for Kenya – the rabies vaccination sometimes needs a course of injections which require up to a month to complete before you depart for the country.
