Teaching English in JamaicaBack to Tefl World

Mention Jamaica and the beat of Reggae seems to sound in your ears and flashing images of sprinters winning Olympic golds in the 100-meters appears before your eyes.  Jamaica has been drawing over a million tourists annually to its idyllic beaches and mountains covered in lush rainforests for years.  The English-speaking island nation is located in the Caribbean, almost between Cuba and the island of Hispaniola. Education is free for its citizens from primary to Secondary levels; the island’s colleges, including teaching institutions, are both public and private.  Very few TEFL positions are advertised outside of Jamaica, but if you are keen to teach there, you could try contacting one of its five universities or other educational institutions to enquire about career opportunities.  You should check which vaccinations you might need if you are going to live in Jamaica.
