Teaching English in TuvaluBack to Tefl World

Tuvalu is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, lying halfway between Hawaii and Australia.  The beautiful palm-fringed beaches and turquoise waters which surround the reef islands and atolls are home to turtles and tropical fish.  Tuvalu has a population of just over 10,500 inhabitants who receive free education from the age of six to fifteen.  Every island has a primary school but some secondary school students have to board during term time at the Motufoua Secondary School on the island of Vaitupu, unless they attend the Fetuvalu day school on the island of Funafuti.  It’s fair to assume that TEFL positions on the English- and Tuvaluan-speaking islands are few and far between, but if you are keen to work there, you could try contacting the aforementioned schools enquiring about job opportunities.  You should check which vaccinations you might need if you are going to move to the islands.
