San Marino is a tiny state, surrounded by Italy, high up in the north-eastern Apennine Mountains. It is the 3rd smallest country in Europe, after the Vatican City and Monaco, but has the grand claim of being the oldest republic state in the world. The country has no national debt and a budget surplus which must be nice for its 32,000-population. San Marino has a surprising amount of tertiary educational institutions which all use Italian for instruction except for the International Academy of Sciences which is famous for adopting Esperanto in its lecture halls. We would love to hear from anyone who has had a TEFL position in this beautiful and remarkable country along with any tips you may have for TEFL teachers who wish to follow in your footsteps.
