Malawi is a landlocked English-speaking country in south-eastern Africa. Its landscape varies from the popular shores of Lake Malawi to the misty Zomba Mountains. Malawi’s economy depends heavily on agriculture and so has been susceptible to the natural vagaries of the African climate. As you might expect TEFL positions are rarely advertised outside of the country, but there are numerous NGOs in the country as well as four universities which might be worth contacting and asking about TEFL teaching opportunities. Remember to have the full list of vaccinations which are needed for Malawi – the rabies vaccination sometimes needs a course of injections which require up to a month to complete before you depart for the country.
