Teaching English in Guinea-BissauBack to Tefl World

Guinea-Bissau is a small West African country on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.  Although Portuguese is the country’s official language only 14% of its people speak the language – almost half speak Kriol – a Creole language born from Portuguese.  TEFL positions are rarely advertised for this beautiful but poor country.  If you are keen to work in Guinea-Bissau, then you might try sending one of its schools or one of the NGOs based there a prospective CV and covering letter asking about career opportunities.  Remember to have the full list of vaccinations which are needed for Guinea-Bissau – the rabies vaccination sometimes needs a course of injections which require up to a month to complete before you depart for the country.
