Teaching English in GambiaBack to Tefl World

The Gambia is a small English-speaking country in West Africa which is surrounded by Senegal and has a short coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.  Its beaches and wildlife reserves have been drawing thousands of tourists annually.  The Gambian constitution declares that free primary education should be available for all its citizens, but this has had funding issues.  TEFL teaching positions are rarely advertised for the Gambia, but if you are keen to work there, then you might try sending one of its schools a prospective CV and covering letter asking about career opportunities.  Remember to have the full list of vaccinations which are needed for the Gambia – the rabies vaccination sometimes needs a course of injections which require up to a month to complete before you depart for the country.
