Ecuador is a Spanish-speaking country in north-western South America which lies on the equator, hence the name. Most TEFL positions which are advertised are located in the capital, Quito, but there are occasionally jobs located throughout the country, and amazingly, even on the Galapagos Islands – a dream for those nature-loving TEFL teachers. TEFL teachers usually earn a competitive local salary which is sufficient to live modestly in Ecuador.
