Walk Beside Me for Knowledge (WBK) is an independent, Honduras based nonprofit organization that includes two bilingual schools focused providing an affordable education without sacrificing quality. Public schools in Honduras are often overcrowded and underfunded, but many bilingual schools in Honduras are for-profit, expensive, and don’t offer financial aid. At Walk Beside Me for Knowledge, however, Coral Springs Bilingual School and Smart Kids Bilingual School are operated as volunteer run non-profits with small class sizes, very low tuition costs, and 30% of students on scholarships. Children at the WBK Foundation schools receive an immersion based bilingual education in Honduras from an international team of volunteer teachers and a group of devoted Honduran teachers and administrators. Students leave the WBK bilingual schools with a good command of the English language, which translates directly into access to higher education and better paying jobs in Honduras.
