teflhub ambassador / travel writer

Travel the world and get paid for it!  teflhub recruits an ambassador / travel writer to provide a written- and video- window to the opportunities for TEFL teachers all over the globe. Each year this non-teaching 9-month contract includes a basic salary of £1,200/month, an £800/month allowance, as well as three international flights to enable the ambassador to return home for two weeks paid vacation at Christmas and at Easter.  From September this year (or any following year as this will be advertised every year) you could be jetting off to places you’ve dreamed of visiting – not to teach, but to find out what teaching is like in the far corners of the Earth.

The 2017/18 travel ambasador has already left for her trip - you can follow her on this blog, or on teflhub's facebook, twitter, and Instagram media.  Next year it could be you!

Aim

The aim is to provide an insightful guide to what life has to offer TEFL teachers in different parts of the world through blog articles and youtube video interviews and features in order to help other teacher make informed decisions about where they would like to work next.  You will work together with the teflhub team to first decide which three continents you wish to explore and then a basic itinerary which you will then arrange the logistics for.  We’ve travelled extensively ourselves and appreciate that people can get travel weary so that’s why we’ve broken down the ‘terms’ into 10 – 12 week  sections allowing you to come home for two two-week paid vacations between all those wonderful experiences.  It’s not all play!  Your main roles will be to:

arrange the logistics for your tours;
create one or two youtube interviews and articles per week about TEFL teaching in countries all over the chosen three continents;
create weekly articles for the teflhub blog;
allow fellow teachers and student-teachers to get an extra insight of the places you travel to through daily social media updates;
interview students to create a compendium of what students like in their ideal teacher.

Before applying, please ensure that you meet the following prerequisites:

  • teachers and  student-teacher will obviously be prime candidates, but anybody with a 160-hour classroom based TEFL certificate (by the closing date which is July 15th 2017) will be considered;
  • those non-TEFL-qualified teachers and student teachers must have, or obtain, any type of  TEFL certificate, this can be an online or a weekend introductory  TEFL course, before the start of the contract in September 2017 (or, if you are busy this year, for the next position in September 2018).  This role will appeal to teachers from any background, perhaps those who have taught various subjects in state education – we just want you to have an insight into what is involved in TEFL teaching;
  • must have a very proficient knowledge of computers, cameras, and social media in order to create the annotated video articles as well as writing daily/weekly updates;
  • must have an engaging writing style to keep your followers enlightened and entertained;
  • must be happy to appear as a teflhub ambassador on youtube videos.  The videos will remain live indefinitely – please consider how this might impact you in any future career or in your personal life;
  • must be fit and healthy – you’ll be doing a lot of travelling by any mode of transport available – it can be quite demanding;
  • must have a passport which does not have limited visa approval around the world;
  • must be independent and flexible – you’ll be mostly on your own and might well have to adapt to unforeseen challenges;
  • as a representative of teflhub you must conduct yourself to the highest possible standards.

If you meet the above requirements then why not apply?  If you need to work on certain skills then you can always apply for next year’s ambassador position.

To Apply

To apply update your CV and covering letter so that it explains why you will be perfect for the role and then find the teflhub ambassador position in the teflhub job’s pages (Click here to visit the job pages - the job post can be found in the pages or under United Kingdom/Europe jobs).  There will be a high level of applications so please appreciate that we can only contact those short-listed candidates.

Short-listed candidates will have to produce a short annotated video about their favourite teaching job or TEFL activity. We appreciate that you might have to get a TEFL certificate or brush up on some of the above skills so the closing date for this year’s teflhub ambassador is July 15th 2017.  Let the dream start here - good luck!
