The Korean language is ancient. However, the alphabet that is used today is only a few hundred years old. The language is called Hankuk eo and the alphabet called Hangeul.

The alphabet, although at first glance, looks confusing and complicated is actually very easy to learn. It is made up of consonants and vowels , the same way as the English alphabet.

We suggest you take the couple of hours needed to learn to read Korean. It will come in very handy! As for spoken Korean, this is extremely difficult for westerners to grasp. It is possible to take lessons at a nearby university or private tutorials are available. Speaking the language is not essential as the level of English in the cities is very good.
